Beyond Disturbing
I have just watched 8MM, and ya allah, that was disturbing movie. It is beyond disturbing. As sick as it was, it only hit me 10 mins after the movie was over. I can say with no hesitation that this is the most disturbing movie I have ever watched.
It was no shock for me that some weird sick stuff exists out there, however, it struck me as more than sick. It is sick enough to make me cry and puke at the same time. (not that I am crying and puking!!)
(unless you live in a solstice, you would know of these sick things.)
Otherwise, I thought the movie did a good job depicting this sickness without being sick it self. Another noticeable thing worth praise is the development of Nicolas Cage character. The movie started showing him as the average Joe, ending with the natural reaction of a normal Joe to what is happening.
Nicolas Cage, as usual, amazes me. He is the kind of actor that can do a wide variety of characters. On contrast to many famous actors, who do the same character over and over again, using the same expressions, Nicolas Cage can actually act. In this movie, he delivers some of the best facial expressions I have ever seen in a movie.
