What a Khutba

* Every generalization has exceptions. I am only talking from genereal things I observe.
I see this clash everyday... this clash between non-American Muslims, and American Muslims. I mean by American, ppl who were raised in this country.

An example on that is Friday Khutba!

We rarely have a good Khateeb. What defines good khateeb? Someone who is knowledgable enough to stand in front of us in the first place. However, his knowledge is not just of books knowledge. It is books knowledge compined with the wisdom. A wisdom that will tell him to pick a topic relates to ppl. At least, he doesnt butcher Quran when he reads it, and if he doesnt kno how to read, let someone else lead. Someone who is good at public speeking. He doesn't rumble and mumble out there. So ... those are three base lines for a good khateeb. There is alot more ellaboration on tht, but those are the basics.

Again, we rarely have a good khateeb around. We have plenty of those who have a messed up enligsh, such as my english. Some of their english is understandable, and others are not. Most stand up to talk with khutbas copied from jumas done back home. by the way, most of those suck, too! But anyways, they stand up, butcher english, and talk about some unrelated topic to us. But a good relief might be that he can read quran. He might!

Then when that happens, you find all those intellict ppl complaining about it. Ok ... let's see what happens when someone from you gets up there. Today's khutba was a disaster! No topic, bad delivery, mumbling, talked like he is better than everyone there, flawless, and the worst messed up reading arabic letters while reading quran.

There should be a fair judgment. You can't complain about something, and replace it with something else as bad thinking it is much better because it is ours!

Do you know what's funny, talkin about that clash I mentioned at the beginning. I found some of that clash in myself sometimes!
