Is that her?!

Happy I was at the end of today, even though I started the day in kind of a bad mood. Why? because I got bored to death in my two classes. What is wrong with that? This boredom shouldn't kick in until at least a month into the semester, not a week! It, also, didn't help me that my bike hasn't been running for the past two days. I went to the masjid, and stoppedmasjid for the past three days.

Last semester, I started working for the Aerospace Department tutoring basic Engineering classes. I am going to tutor this semester too. I like tutoring. I like when the light bulb goes on in the student's head. I like that I think of the same problem 10 different ways, looking for the way that he/she would understand it. So, I like tutoring. During the break, I applied to this tutoring job in a tutoring office in West Lake area, the high class area in Austin! Anyways, after two weeks from the interview, they called me today to offer me the job. ALLHAMDULILLAH. I will be tutoring math and physics to high schoolers, and if I'm lucky, I may get to tutor middle school or even elementary! This is inshallah going to be great. The pay is pretty good, allhamdulillah. The hours are pretty flexible, and I don't have to work a lot. Allhamdulillah.

Around Asr time, Ashraf called me: Ammar, do you hear me? "Yes, I do hear yo..." On the other side of the phone the bike engine is screaming out loud. Ashraf: if you want the bike, come and get it! Of course, I got all excited. Put a shirt on, and drove to the masjid. The bike was running! Allhamdulillah! I asked Ashraf what he did to it. He said that he just kissed it! So, I scheduled Ashraf for a weekly bike kiss!

Then later, previous plans were canceled at the last minute. So I geared up and rode to the Halaqa to hear Preacher Moss. I had no intentions of socializing; I just wanted to listen to Moss. By the time I got there they hadn't started yet. I left to 7-eleven, topped off the bike tank, then went back. He was pretty funny. He also impressed me by not crossing the line of making "muslim jokes" as he called it in the Q&A after the presentation. As soon as it was over, I left. I didn't want to stay for many reasons. I just left.

The weather was nice for riding. So, I took my bike for a ride. I went to the small private airport I fly from. It has nice lounge and cafeteria with coffee, tea, and popcorn. Yes, I'm a freak. I ride around for the sake of riding, then go to chill out at an airport. Got a problem with that? cuz I don't. I'm having fun.

At the airport, I found, Daryl, the nice font desk guy. I haven't seen him for more than a year. I fixed myself a nice cup of tea, and went chatting with him. Then it was the surprise. I saw a beauty out the window. More than a beauty, I saw a gem. It was the Italian Piaggio Avanti II. I have seen it in magazines, but never seen it in reality. I mean she is pretty young, too. They started making her few yrs ago. Ladies and gentlemen, I present the one, the onlyyyyy ... THE AVANTI ....
The design of this plane is pretty creative. It is not only very sufficient and gives a lot of stablity and control, she looks pretty, too. That what makes Italian better designers than everyone else. They understand the concept of beauty and function. It's easy to make something that functions the way you want. But, it is something else to be pretty and functioning at the same time!

Later, I asked him if I can go out and take a closer look at her. She is gorgeous! I stood for a long time just staring at her. Believe me, if you just look at her ... huh ... I was all drown in the beauty of her design, imagining how wonderful would it have been to design her. But then I melted when I looked at her cockpit and dreamed of flying her. oooh .. huh ... Inshallah, who knows. So, I decided to learn Italian, so I can work for Piaggio! Now, I have an ear-to-ear smile. I can't explain how wonderful that was. It's almost as if I sat in a my lovely Carerra GT! Yaa...
that much!!

The ride back was fun. There was small street where I opened up the throttle. I didn't make high speeds, but I was doing pretty high accelerations. Trying to get to that speed as fast as I can. That was fun. But the more I ride, the more I enjoy it, and the more I realise that I'm far from having good skills. The bike needs a bit of tune up. Once I start working, I will do a major tune up to it.

I don't want to sleep. I just want to keep smilling.
