Acknowledgment ?

After Mofat's graduation, he told me how even the students clapped harder when a 4.0 student went on the stage, because students never knew who are those 4.0 students, besides they really acknowledge their "achievement." At the time, I thought it is really cool to be a 4.0 student undercover! But now, I think it is really hard for them to live unrecognized, however they can't go around saying that they are 4.0 students. This where the university comes in play. The university should honor them through out their college career, because that even helps them, I guess.

Ok ... so I am NOT a 4.0 student, but I strive to be a good student.

I am taking a fluids lab this semester. It is the first real lab in our curriculum. The prof. who teaches it is the director of the Aeromechanic studies center in UT. Wht does that mean? They guy is REALLY good at his research! It is also well known that his class is pretty hard. Even though it is a one hour class, we work in it harder than our 3 hrs classes. Also, most students mess up their report's grades. I was pretty worried about first lab report grade; I worked hard on it, but I knew there are so many things that he can take off pts on.

After the class that I got stuck in (read previous post), I went to pick my lab report. He gives me the report, and says "you get to get a beer." Well, earlier in the class he said, if we get a above 50/60 we should be happy and get a beer. And if we get below 50 we should be upset, and get a beer, too! So, I did not which beer he was talking about. I said: I don't drink, but (I looked at my paper here) I will TREAT my self with something else! I couldn't jump around to celebrate, but I could imagine myself doing it. Another student came in here, so I said thnx nd left. I stood right outside his office to see where I lost the 2 pts, and of course started my imagined celebration. Then I heard him calling me back in. I went in, and this is how it went:
me: me, sir?
Prof: ya ... wait a sec. (finished talking with other student)
me: sure ...
(a min later)
prof: so Ammar, what r ur interests?
me: (I stuttered ...)
prof: your academic interests ..
me: (in a long time, I have not answer this question even to myself!) I am thinking about grad school, probably going into designing aircrafts, small general aviation, or supersonic ...
prof: interesting , what schools are in mind?
me: (I explained about the different programs that I am interested in)
prof: wht's ur GPA?
me: (I aint declaring my GPA on my blog! )
prof: thas good. (he nodded his head in ACKNOWLEDGMENT)

(the TA comes in and we interrupted our conversation, and talked our final project in the class.)
(The TA leaves, and the prof talks to me and gives me some advices about what should I do, and who should I talk to. we had a good 20 mins conversation ... during which I knew he was a pilot, nd I told him that I am a pilot.
prof said: WOW ! ...

anyways, I think that was a cool moral boost. Even though nothing mainly happened. It is not like he gave me a job or anything ... but it is great to be ACKNOWLEDGED
