Second solo X-country ...

May.07.06 ... my second solo x-country. Bedford --> Hartford,CT --> New London, CT --> Bedford. The total flight time was 3.0 hrs. the distance was around 160 knotical miles, which is about 200 miles. You might think, damn, it might've been faster by car. Well, 3.0 hrs included taxiing, and time on the ground. It's the time I paid for, and the time I logged in my logbook. But the actual time in the air would be a little less than tht. I marked 120 Knots in the way back, and I cruised for a little bit on 110 knots. I usually cruise on 100 knots.
One thing happened before I took off from bedford. There was a little kid and his mom setting right next to the airport's fence looking at airplanes. I knew it's the kid who is interested in planes. I was already on the airports ground when I saw them, I asked them if they want to get in and take a closer look. The kid was, "Why not, sure!" The kid is 7 yrs old. He wasn't with us at all, his mind was blowen away and taken somewhere else. The mom was telling me, that he flies from Hanscom field in the simulator. every two minutes the kid jumped in and ask me some question. with every question, I look at him, and ask his mom, "He is seven?!" for example, I pointed the plane to him, and he asked, " that is a Cessna, right?" Anyways, the kid was amazed. but poor kid, was afraid to death because of all the noise. There was a jet coming in to park, and there was a nother propeller plane starting the engine. So, it was pretty loud. He asked to go back, he didnt even wait to set in the plane. One other thing shocked me, he asked, "I noticed that I have to take permission far away from the airport before I land." I said, "ya, about ten miles away." It's amazing. I was soo happy that I ma actually made a dream come true to tht kid. I didn't even get his name, but he may remember one day, when he is a pilot and some big thing in aviation industry, that guy took him on the airport's ground.
Here are some pics.

Hartford, CT. That yellow plane is a Decathlon, an aerobatic plane. I think the yellow color fits it really well. So, I will have this in yellow, nd my Carrera GT will be red. : ))
This helicopter is top of the line for civlian choppers. Cruises at 170 knots. Carries 6 ppl.
It's pilot is a post militery pilot. He has more the 19000 hrs flying!
I asked him if I can walk around it and look at the inside. He actually took me to it and let me in, and let me set in the pilots seat. Oh, amazing. We talked for about 20 mins. At that point I was tht little kid.
New London's Airport, CT
My plane Parked in Hartford airport, CT
Dont ask, some bridge in New London.
All right, I think that was enough of posting in one day.
